Sunday 25th July: Another opportunity to do a great ride from Crawfordjohn to Sanquhar & Wanlockhead. Start Point: Crawfordjohn Community Hall (NT 879 239) at 10.30 am Following the B740 along Crawick glen, go through Sanquhar on the A76. At Mennock take the B797 on a challenging climb up to Wanlockhead - for a well-earned lunch break. Continue to Leadhills. Here: either return directly to Crawfordjohn; or take a longer route by Elvanfoot (B7040), Crawford and Abington, using the NCR Route 74 to get back to Crawfordjohn Distance: about 30 miles; longer route 39 miles approx. We have added 5 easier run events to this years runs list . These are aimed at people coming back to cycling , families , those needing to build up confidence or fitness and those who wish to see the hidden side of Glasgow and Lanarkshire so often missed when travelling by motor transport . The rides will stay off-road as much as possible using cycle tracks , footpaths and parks . The pace will be easy . An experienced ride leader will supervise each ride . Rides should take approximately 2 hours . Unfortunately unsupervised children under 16 are not allowed . We require names and a contact number on the day . The dates of these rides are 8/8 , 11/9 , 10/10 , 13/11 and 5/12 . Please see the website nearer the time for full details . |
